Package: giggle Version: 0.4.91-1 Severity: minor Hi Andrea,
giggle depends on git-core (>= 1.5.6.3), which looks like it is intended to exclude e.g. git from etch. Unfortunately, git 1:1.4.4.4-4+etch3 from etch compares greater than 1.5.6.3 because of the epoch. I don’t think Debian supports upgrades straight from etch to squeeze anyway, so it should be safe to drop the version from the dependency. Alternatively, if you want to keep the explicit versioned dependency for documentation and robustness, it should be (>= 1:1.5.6.3). giggle in lenny has a similar problem. git’s version has had an epoch since 1:1.4.1-2, so I guess that version of giggle is meant to depend on 1:1.4.4.3; since git in etch meets that requirement already, there is no serious problem there, either. Regards, Jonathan Aside: looking through your changelog, it is not clear when the git dependency changed. Such details can be helpful --- in this case, they would have allowed me to figure out what the updated dependency accomplishes. I do not mean to point that out as a bug, just a suggestion for the future. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
