That seems exactly the same as broadcom-sta-source.

OK.
Try changing this line in /etc/wicd/manager-settings.conf:

wpa_driver = wext

in

wpa_driver = broadcom

(remember not to change it again from the GUI!)
If that works for you, I'll make a patch for it.

In case it doesn't work out-of-the-box, I fear it'll take some more time. I'm 
not really happy to support a non-free thing, when you have a free working 
alternative. But depending on how many people want this, and what upstream 
thinks about supporting it, I (or them) might make a more complex patch.
