I don't want to diverge as little as possible from upstream; I don't care about a point release which we won't use anyway for the stable release.
btw, do you have a response on the embed question? there is no reason for the namespace change since all debian packages (once all of the embeds are fixed) will be using the same expat version.
looking. probably needs a backport. did you run the pybench benchmark on such a build compared with the current build (on i386)?
