Package: perl-doc Version: 5.10.0-19lenny2 Severity: important With Debian-Etch there was a perldoc-Program for reading (for example) integrated docs in Spamassassin-Modules. After upgrading to Debian Lenny, it's gone.
There's a /usr/bin/perldoc.stub which emits the following message: You need to install the perl-doc package to use this program. Unfortunately, exactly this perldoc.stub comes from the already installed perl-doc package: hostname ~ $ dpkg -S /usr/bin/perldoc.stub diversion by perl-doc from: /usr/bin/perldoc diversion by perl-doc to: /usr/bin/perldoc.stub So I don't have a working perldoc to read docs and can't find a substitute for it. On a second, also upgraded machine with no previous install of perldoc, there was this very same stub but named perldoc. Installing perl-doc on that box did the right thing and perldoc was available again. The Problem on the first machine has been fixed with a reinstall of perl-doc. So I think, it's a package-bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.4 APT prefers proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages perl-doc depends on: ii perl 5.10.0-19lenny2 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction perl-doc recommends no packages.
