Package: libjs-prototype Version: 1.6.0.2-4 Severity: important
Using /javascript/ as the default web alias is a very bad idea. Many many web apps will typically use a subdirectory named javascript to store their app-specific scripts. Using an a system-wide alias with the same name will break things and tracking down the cause of the breakage is not easy since you don't expect the server to override one of your directories. I know that once you figure it out, it's trivial to remove the conf entry, but I think it would be a better idea to prevent the confusion in the first place by naming the alias something less common. Or at least present the user with a debconf option to set it at package install and warn them that it may override webapp directories. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash libjs-prototype depends on no packages.
