Hi,

please let me note, that in my opninion ferm's current behavior
regarding symlinks to the init script is correct.

The scripts symlinked in rcS.d/ get executed at every start before
switching to one of the runlevels 2 - 5.

As the network interfaces are brought up in rcS.d/, the firewall should be
up as soon as possible after that to avoid having processes listen on
unprotected interfaces/addresses/ports.

This is the behavior of rc-scripts for other firewalls in Debian,
so ferm should in my opinion not deviate from that.

If ferm does not work despite having startup symlinks in rc[2345].d/,
I fear the problem is local to the bug submitter.

Gabor,
if you did not find any news compared to your latest mail,
please consider closing the bug.

Max,
an alternative is to tag it wontfix and downgrade it or to close it.
As I am neither the submitter of the bug nor ferm's maintainer
I did not dare to do it.

Best regards
Peter

PS: I was looking for a tag "not_a_bug" or something like that,
but failed. Did I miss something obvious?
