That's unfortunate.

Since I know little or nothing about JPEG compression and stuff like
that, I am afraid that it would take ages to me before I can figure out
where's the actual bug and how to fix it... :-(

By performing some tests, I noticed that the problem seems to cause
that a thin rectangle of the image gets moved from one side to the
other (e.g. from bottom to top or from left to right or the other way
around) and mirrored.
For instance:

  $ wget
http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af115/vampire_and_anime_cool_and_sexy/db12.jpg
  $ exiftran -p -9 -i db12.jpg

This clearly shows that a thin rectangle that was at the bottom of the
image, gets moved to the right side (rather than to the left side, as it
should) and is mirrored.

I hope this hint may help in pinpointing the bug.
