Hi Didier, I found out what was blocking usb_modeswitch on my laptop. It's in the log file:
> checking config: /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1446.dpkg-old > ! matched, now switching > (running command: /usr/sbin/usb_modeswitch -I -W -c > /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1446.dpkg-old) I had an old (broken) version of a modeswitch rule that was overwritten at install, but not deleted: so it was found before the right one and nothing could work.
