Problem: GnuCash fails upon a fresh install of Debian Lenny 5.0.3. Program initially dies upon startup. Works after reinstall. WTF ??? But finance::quotes still doesn't work. A Solution to the finance::quotes problem: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=490395#22 I have implemented the above change, and it works. It may not be the best solution, but it is a solution. (I don't know what else it might break.) Gentlemen, if this solution was known 1.5 years ago, back in July of 2008, then why is it still happening on a fresh install of Debian Lenny 5.0.3 ?? What does this "solution" break? Anything? Is this solution acceptable? If this is a good solution, can we please get it committed to the official Debian sources? Nothing should be broken in Debian stable out of the box!!!
