Package: gnucash

Executive Summary:
Solution found to GnuCash failure on fresh install of Debian Lenny 5.0.3.

Problem:
GnuCash fails upon a fresh install of Debian Lenny 5.0.3.
Program initially dies upon startup. Works after reinstall. WTF ???
But finance::quotes still doesn't work.

A Solution to the finance::quotes problem:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=490395#22

I have implemented the above change, and it works. It may not be the best
solution, but it is a solution. (I don't know what else it might break.)

Gentlemen, if this solution was known 1.5 years ago, back in July of 2008, then
why is it still happening on a fresh install of Debian Lenny 5.0.3 ??

What does this "solution" break? Anything? Is this solution acceptable?

If this is a good solution, can we please get it committed to the official
Debian sources?

Nothing should be broken in Debian stable out of the box!!!

Thank you for your attention to solving this *very old* problem,
Ken Hendrickson
