I have probably the same problem - but it won't take whole session with
it - I'm just not able to start gnome-settings-daemon with this error
message:
(gnome-settings-daemon:5963): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **:
g_param_spec_internal: assertion `(name[0] >= 'A' && name[0] <= 'Z') ||
(name[0] >= 'a' && name[0] <= 'z')' failed
And many things are not working without GSD running...
