I've experienced a similar problem on amd64, except that the xserver
dies and is restarted.
On amd64 I am using a radeon 3200hd graphics chip on the motherboard
and the radeonhd driver, all from Debian unstable.
What are the versions of xserver related packages in use in the
system?
Does downgrading as you mentioned in a previous message solve
the problem?
Hi, when I downgraded xserver-xorg on i386 to Debian testing (1:7.4+4
and xserver-xorg-core 2:1.6.5-1 and xserver-xorg-video-radeon
1:6.12.3-1) the problem went away and I succesfully drew ellipses in gpaint.
In the last few hours I tried using gpaint on amd64 with xserver-xorg
1:7.5+1 and xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.4-1 and xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
1.3.0-2. When I started drawing a second ellipse, the xserver restarted.
I have not tried downgrading the xserver to testing on amd64 nor tried
using the xserver-xorg-video-vesa with the xserver from unstable, but
can do so if it would help you.
Arthur.
