Removing uswsusp finally solved it here as well. :-> The bug seems to be reported at numerous places, to me it seems like the most accurate information is kept upstream in the g-p-m's package bugtracker on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=597189
I don't see any disadvantages in dropping uswsusp yet. So if this is the proper solution pm-utils should be changed accordingly as currently it suggests to use uswsusp, which makes it rather hard to tackle this little bugger.
