I booted 2.6.31-1-amd64 and the module loaded fine.
Here's me trying to load the module:

FATAL: Error inserting vboxdrv
(/lib/modules/2.6.32-trunk-amd64/updates/dkms/vboxdrv.ko): Invalid module format
The message in "dmesg" is:
vboxdrv: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout
