This bug can be closed, since the error message was correct: I did not configure (in the mail account settings - OpenPGP Security) to use the new key for encryption. Since there was no subkey for this mail address (the previos key had this), I had to explicictly set the OpenPGP ID to use, the 'use email adress of this identity' option failed correctly.
