actually, no. Part of the reason is that I didn't know that 2.6.32 was
available; another part of the reason is that, even knowing that it is
available, I don't know how to get access to it as you identified it. In
aptitude, I can find no more of the file name you gave than "linux-
source-2.6.32" there. OTOH, I wonder whether you're talking about a pre-
compiled image. If so, why? Actually, the precompiled image for 2.6.30 does
indeed work on my AMD-64 machine. That's why I specified "try to
boot from my
own recompilation of the 2.6.30-8 kernel."
At any rate, my compilation of 2.6.32 hangs up identically to 2.6.30.
the 2.6.32 upload is in unstable, hasn't migrated to testing yet
and will take some time to do so, but just installs fine in testing.
you need to add an unstable deb apt line and then install the image
and then you can remove that line again.
Thank you very much for your prompt reply!
you are more then welcome,
hope aboves helps? :)
That is how I accessed the linux-*source* for 2.6.32-3, which I had to
have to give you the feedback that I did. ;) Namely, that 2.6.32 also
has the screen shut off absolutely about 1/3 of the way into the GUI
booting process.
Thanks again -- very much! :)
