In alsamixer, on the third ([All]) Card: HDA Intel Chip: Realtek ALC662 rev1 View: F3: Playback F4: Capture F5:[All] Item: e-Mic Boost screen, there are identical repeated entries for e-Mic Boost, and i-Mic Boost. Amixer doesn't have this problem $ amixer controls|sort -t = -k 2n numid=1,iface=MIXER,name='Master Playback Volume' numid=2,iface=MIXER,name='Master Playback Switch' numid=3,iface=MIXER,name='e-Mic Boost' numid=4,iface=MIXER,name='e-Mic Playback Volume' numid=5,iface=MIXER,name='e-Mic Playback Switch' numid=6,iface=MIXER,name='i-Mic Boost' numid=7,iface=MIXER,name='i-Mic Playback Volume' numid=8,iface=MIXER,name='i-Mic Playback Switch' numid=9,iface=MIXER,name='Capture Switch' numid=10,iface=MIXER,name='Capture Volume' numid=11,iface=MIXER,name='Beep Playback Volume' numid=12,iface=MIXER,name='Beep Playback Switch' And also alsamixer on my Thinkpad r50e doesn't have this problem.
