X -query remotehostname My minimal system (which has an integrated SIS video chipset) has a serial mouse so I have followed the general advice in the discussion of bug 547143 to ignore HAL by setting AutoAddDevices and AutoEnableDevices to False. The result is the KDE (remote) desktop runs fine without any issues _before_ logout except some errors reported from HAL below in the log vile (which presumably are expected when it is ignored). However, when I do the KDE desktop logout, additional errors are generated in the logfile below starting with (EE) SIS(0): Unable to map IO aperture. Invalid argument (22) Those appear to have no practical implications (since I am logging out anyway), but I thought I should report them "for the record". Alan W.
