no, x86info is also reporting wrong estimate. However, examining more the output of cpufreq-info, it may be that the estimate by x86info is actually right:

I have 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. When I set the frequency to 800 MHz by "cpufreq-set -f 800000", then the "cpufreq-info" reports following information:

current CPU frequency is 800 MHz.
cpufreq stats: 2.40 GHz:88.56%, 2.00 GHz:0.00%, ... , 800 MHz:11.44%

See the strange fractions of 2.4GHz and 800MHz. It looks like the CPU frequency scalling on some processors (here the Core 2 Duo) is not as simple as just having a lower/higher constant frequency.

Since (gkrellm-)x86info is estimating the real frequency, I would say that the behaviour is a feature of the package and not a bug (and most probably the same applies to the bugs #501280 and #253524).

And obviously it has nothing to do with the architecture.
