Hi, I'm the package maintainer for yum in Debian. You are right to say that the package will NOT change in Etch. Even if there's a security issue, it will be PATCHED, and nothing else but the security issue fixing itself will be changed. No other change would be made to the package. Also, I'd like to highlight that I have taken over the maintainership after it was really left over by previous maintainer. Also, I wanted to let you guys know that I have prepared a new version of yum (the latest stable) in the Debian repository of GPLHost. It's just waiting that someone uploads it for me in Debian, as I don't have upload rights (as I am still in the process to be a Debian Developer).
