Hi Ken, Thanks for the response. As I said, the problem is usually caused by the drive not settling quickly enough. For the writes, I can simply wait 30 sec between inserting the disk and responding to the prompt. The consistency check fails less often due to this, although I do occasionally get failures due to bad writes. At any rate, the option to retry would make this go much smoother.
