Yes, I realized that. I wonder though if this isn't a bug in
python-central. I will try to figure that out.

If so, please file (or find) a bug report against the offending
package, and block this bug by that one.

For now, you can just manually add the following line to the
python-ropemacs section of /var/lib/dpkg/status:

Python-Version: >=2.5

After that, the package will upgrade. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Until it's no longer needed (i.e. until the package can be upgraded
without manual intervention), this grave bug remains affecting
‘python-ropemacs’ and so this report should remain open.

There is nothing wrong with the current version of python-ropemacs. It's unfortunate that the previous version hosed some systems, but not much can be done about this (in python-ropemacs).

I'm marking the current version as fixed, but leaving the bug open.
I believe it should be closed, but I leave it to the ropemacs maintainer's discretion.
