The coff-avr support is needed for testing of AVR code with VMLAB ( http://www.amctools.com/vmlab.htm ). Unfortunately, the version 2.20-2 , which is available in testing still lacks this support. I have to use the avr-objcopy extracted from the old 2.18 version of avr-binutils to generate coff from elf.
