Package: apt Version: 0.7.24 Severity: wishlist Hi,
This is a little premature, since s.d.o isn't officially up yet, but here's a real use case where this would have been cool (: On dev boxes running unstable, sometimes you just want to pull in an extra package, without updating the whole machine. In that case sometimes "apt-get install foo" will fail, because either foo or one of its deps is no longer available for download in the pool with the expected version. They are however available at s.d.o. So it would be cool if apt looked there (or could be told to) automatically if you have a stale packages list. This might still need some work on s.d.o, but it seemed worth tossing the idea out in case people have time to look into it before I do.
