The problem here is that we have a lot of -dbg packages on Debian, all of them containing binaries under /usr/lib/debug/ Do we need the same README file on all of them? We will have more than a thousand equal READMEs on the archive, explaining the same thing. I don't think that a file explaining how to use them with gdb belongs to imagemagick-dbg (nor any other -dbg packages). My view is that, if necessary, the package maintainer is responsible in helping the user to get a backtrace (by pointing how to use gdb, install the -dbg package, etc). Or at least an explanation in the gdb package only. CCing debian-devel to see if we can get better opinions and solutions for this.
