Out of curiosity, can you explain why the 2 are mutually exclusive?

First of all Filippo's upload was DELAYED/4, so it would have hit the
archive _after_ this weekend and hence most probably would have been
rejected in case your package hit the archive soonish (which, I believe,
depends on also sponsor availability).

But even beside that, a RC bug fixed today is better than a RC bug fixed
tomorrow :-), shit can happens, you can get swamped in other stuff (hey,
it happens to everybody, it is entirely normal) and we have missed a fix
which was already ready and on which Filippo has anyhow invested some
times.

On the constructive side, please let me know if you need sponsoring for
the new package fixing (also) the issue. Otherwise, please allow NMUs
and/or prepare a fix by yourself.
