Hi, I have got some interest in JacORB, too. I put some effort into debianizing JacORB release 3.4.1.
I read about the JacORB issue from 2006, and the reason JacORB did not find its way into Debian yet. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=349540 As mentioned in the discussion, there's probably a license issue with the OMG files. This turned out to be true also for latest release. So I replaced those OMG files by the equivalent files shipped with OpenJDK and different license terms, which should be fine in terms of licensing. AFAICS, this would enable JacORB being shipped with Debian distribution. I prepared a launchpad package for Jaunty for installation, currently without notification service compiled into, due to some other unresolved library-dependency. https://launchpad.net/~debian-icoup-consulting/+archive/ppa This package might be a good starting point to drive JacORB integration forward.
