I think we only need to replace this line in /etc/fail2ban/filter.d/pure-ftpd.conf :

failregex = pure-ftpd(?:\[\d+\])?: (.+?@<HOST>) \[WARNING\] %(__errmsg)s \[.+\]$
with :
failregex = pure-ftpd(?:\[\d+\])?: \(.+?@<HOST>\) \[WARNING\] %(__errmsg)s \[.+\]$

to fix the bug ...
