You are right here. I'd suggest not changing the debconf templates nevertheless at this time for the following reasons: - changing all translations is a huge pile of work - the debconf configuration is geared to support simple configurations only - having a fallback smarthost is a rather advanced subject - things are documented correctly in the update-exim4.conf.conf man page, so advanced users know what to enter here - the debconf configuration is complex already, I'd rather not confuse novices with more unfamiliar concepts Andreas, if you agree, I suggest that you set this bug wontfix.
