Package: git-doc Version: 1:1.6.3.3-1~bpo50+1 Severity: minor In version 1.6.3 (and 1.5.6 as I see its source), git and git-commit (and most other git-* in /usr/lib/git-core/) are not shell commands any more. But file:///usr/share/doc/git-doc/gitcore-tutorial.html has lines as follows at the last part of "Making a change":
| You've now made your first real git commit. And if you're interested in | looking at what git commit really does, feel free to investigate: it's a | few very simple shell scripts to generate the helpful (?) commit message | headers, and a few one-liners that actually do the commit itself | (git-commit). Clearly, "it's a few very simple shell scripts" is incorrect. Reading lines for "int cmd_commit(...)" function in "builtin-commit.c" of its source is as best we can these days. Please forward this to upstream. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash git-doc depends on no packages. git-doc recommends no packages.
