Package: smartmontools Version: 5.38+svn2993-1 Severity: serious Justification: FTBFS User: debian-...@lists.debian.org Usertags: kfreebsd
Hi, due to some API-related changes when moving from FreeBSD kernels 7.x to 8.x (you can read the details in the thread starting at [1]), your package is now FTBFSing on GNU/kFreeBSD (build logs are linked from [2]). It has been determined that moving to 8.x anyway was the way forward, and headers are being tweaked to provide with the needed compatibility layer, sometimes requiring the affected packages to be patched a bit. 1. http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd/2009/12/msg00005.html 2. https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?suite=unstable&p=smartmontools It appears (see Petr's mail in [3]) that your package could be fixed by just adding a package to Build-Depends for kfreebsd-* architectures. Unfortunately, the relevant package is currently in NEW, due to the addition of binary packages (for those very USB-related changes). 3. http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd/2009/12/msg00069.html 4. http://ftp-master.debian.org/new/freebsd-libs_8.0-3.html I'm sorry it affects your package's ability to migrate to testing (since it was previously built on kfreebsd-*, having out-of-date packages blocks the migration), but if for some reasons you need such a migration to happen ASAP, you may want to request the removal of kfreebsd-* binaries so that your package is no longer blocked by those kernel-related changes. We will keep you posted through this bugreport about the final changes needed for your package to build again.
