Hi,
if this should be of any use at all, then please reconsider your choice
of language. It's not that i don't like python, but writing such a
low-level tool in python and thus forcing everyone to install python is,
obviously, not acceptable. It's already a major pain with lsb_release
for the exact same reason, no need to make the same mistakes again.
