Package: udev Version: 0.125-7+lenny3 Severity: wishlist *** Please type your report below this line *** For final users on a home environment, it is useful to have udev automatically umount media on ACTION=="remove". When a user forgets to "safely remove" a device before unplugging it, the mount remains in mtab and shows up on every user's desktop (when using gnome, at least).
A line like this in some udev conf file should do: ACTION=="remove",KERNEL="sd*",RUN+="umount -l /dev/%k" Although making sure it's a removable media would be nice (couldn't figure out how to do it myself). -- Kernel configuration: -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=es_AR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=es_AR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to es_AR.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages udev depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libselinux1 2.0.65-5 SELinux shared libraries ii libvolume-id0 0.125-7+lenny3 libvolume_id shared library ii lsb-base 3.2-20 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip udev recommends no packages. udev suggests no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
