For final users on a home environment, it is useful to have udev
automatically umount media on ACTION=="remove".
When a user forgets to "safely remove" a device before unplugging it,
the mount remains in mtab and shows up on every user's desktop (when
using gnome, at least).

A line like this in some udev conf file should do:
ACTION=="remove",KERNEL="sd*",RUN+="umount -l /dev/%k"

Although making sure it's a removable media would be nice (couldn't
figure out how to do it myself).
