Hello,

the periodic activity data collector sadc (sa1) uses fdatasync() to
synchronize its written data down to disk. This puts a real pain on
flash devices and is most likely not really needed.
Neither mrtg nor atsar fsync() their data and work well anyways - I'm
not using collectd, but a quick crawl over its code didn't show up any
f*sync() as well.
Such "manual" syncs undermine any tuning of the vm's write behaviour.
Thus, it would be nice if this fdatasync() could be avoided - at least
via commandline option.

This is most likely something to forward upstream.

Thanks for your work & regards

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
