Package: linux-image-2.6.30-2-686 Version: 2.6.30-8 Severity: normal Hi all, since some weeks ago I've been experiencing that USB devices mounted through uhci_hcd fail to mount in my system while those mounted through ehci_hcd do mount flawlessly.
The two specific devices that are failing are: HP DeskJet F380 and a Samsung SGH-L760V mobile phone. The HP DeskJet F380 only fails when used as scanner, while it still works as printer without any trouble. The SGH-L760V fails when used as USB mass storage device (e.g. to access photos taken with its camera) while it is perfectly recognized by Network Manager as a GSM modem. Although I notice reportbug sends relevant information from the kernel log, I send you some snippets I've collected myself; maybe this eases your work. These are the mounting logs for the devices. This is the dmesg for a regular USB memory stick that works perfectly: Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.772180] usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7 Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.907568] usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=054c, idProduct=0243 Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.907578] usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.907585] usb 1-5: Product: Storage Media Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.907591] usb 1-5: Manufacturer: Sony Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.907596] usb 1-5: SerialNumber: 1707013014948 Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.907789] usb 1-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Dec 2 17:02:52 UGI kernel: [ 9360.909374] scsi3 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Dec 2 17:02:57 UGI kernel: [ 9365.909937] scsi 3:0:0:0: Direct-Access Sony Storage Media 0100 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS Dec 2 17:02:57 UGI kernel: [ 9365.910883] sd 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 Dec 2 17:02:57 UGI kernel: [ 9365.914631] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] 2005504 512-byte hardware sectors: (1.02 GB/979 MiB) Dec 2 17:02:57 UGI kernel: [ 9365.915621] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off Dec 2 17:02:57 UGI kernel: [ 9365.918750] sdb: sdb1 Dec 2 17:02:57 UGI kernel: [ 9365.979946] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk This is the dmesg for the failing HP DeskJet F380: Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.652157] usb 3-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4 Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.849199] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=5511 Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.849208] usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.849216] usb 3-2: Product: Deskjet F300 series Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.849221] usb 3-2: Manufacturer: HP Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.849227] usb 3-2: SerialNumber: CN67EFF27N04KH Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.849420] usb 3-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Dec 2 17:01:54 UGI kernel: [ 9302.856220] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 4 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x5511 And the Samsung SGH-L760: Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.160157] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9 Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.321233] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=04e8, idProduct=5a0f Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.321242] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.321249] usb 4-1: Product: SGH-L760V Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.321255] usb 4-1: Manufacturer: SAMSUNG MTP Device Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.321261] usb 4-1: SerialNumber: A353666023139976 Dec 2 17:00:40 UGI kernel: [ 9229.321452] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Hope you can spot what's wrong.
