Package: emacs
Version: 23.1+1-4
Severity: important

Emacs starts with -nw, but otherwise (without -nw) fails to find X
fonts for startup.

   j...@aragorn:~ $ emacs
   Font `10x20' is not defined
   j...@aragorn:~ $

Seems like a config problem, but xfonts-base is installed and
/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/* seem fine for every value of * I check.

The file /etc/X11/fonts/misc/xfonts-base.alias looks ok, but I'm not
quite sure what to look for there. Doing an apt-get purge followed by
apt-get install of xfonts-base does not fix the problem.

This began after an icky upgrade problem that involved apt-get
removing and reinstalling quite a few things related to X.

Any pointers or suggestions most appreciated.
