It was proven convenient to use dwm with WinKey to issue commands to the window manager. This wishlist bug requests creating a new alternative for a dwm compilation that uses the Windows key as the dwm's modifier.
this customization is too 'minor' to justify another alternative within the main dwm package (dwm itself should be kept small).
however, i'll be adding soon dwm-alternatives, where you can put configs and/or patches into a place in /etc/ and call a script (/usr/sbin/dwm-alternatives or something) that compiles and registers your custom dwm alternative.
