Package: ntp-server Severity: wishlist ntp upstream considers ntpdate to be more or less unmaintained and sucky; we shouldn't be shipping ntpd in a configuration that expects it. Please add the 'iburst' option to the default server lines in ntp.conf, and the -g argument to the command line.
(iburst is always a good thing to have; it lets ntpd sync up faster on startup. I can't think of a good reason for not having -g. You can still run ntpdate if you want to - it's just unnecessary). -- .''`. ** Debian GNU/Linux ** | Andrew Suffield : :' : http://www.debian.org/ | `. `' | `- -><- |
