Package: libsnmp-base Version: 5.4.2.1~dfsg-3 Severity: normal libsnmp-base depends on gawk. However, in the source package, the only use of gawk is in debian/control. All the other uses are plain "awk". Even if gawk is installed, it is not guaranteed that it is the awk alternative (root may have changed it to, e.g., mawk).
The most preferable alternative is that you change whatever it is to work on all awks: there are many good reasons to prefer mawk over gawk (such as speed). Alternatively, you can keep the dependency but fix whatever script needs it to call gawk explicitly. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- no debconf information -- brian m. carlson / brian with sandals: Houston, Texas, US +1 713 440 7475 | http://crustytoothpaste.ath.cx/~bmc | My opinion only OpenPGP: RSA v4 4096b 88AC E9B2 9196 305B A994 7552 F1BA 225C 0223 B187
