Many files are not found:
$ apt-file search /etc/wicd/|wc -l
12
$ dlocate /etc/wicd/|wc -l
19
I turns out they were all directories.
("So why do you think it's called apt-FILE".)
Therefore please add a warning the man page:
Due to the limitations of Contents-*.gz files, **directories, empty or
not, are not found**. This is in contrast to dlocate(1). E.g., one might
end up with no idea something exists:
$ dlocate /etc/wicd/scripts/|wc -l
4
$ apt-file search /etc/wicd/scripts/|wc -l
0
