Package: libssl0.9.8 Version: 0.9.8k-6 Severity: wishlist File: libssl checking the output of "openssl engine" and "openssl engine padlock" it seems the padlock engine is not enabled for amd64, yet. Kernel 2.6.31 finally enables support for the padlock engine on amd64, thus padlock extensions on the VIA Nano CPU can be used for dm-crypt etc. Furthermore, rngd supports the VIA Nano CPU's hardware random number generator, as well.
It would be nice if openssl would be enabled to use the padlock extensions for amd64, as well. This would likely accelerate quite a few applications relying on openssl and libssl.
