Hi, I tried contact the bug submitter in Nov 2004 to see if it was still occuring and have not received a reply yet.
I use Gnus as my primary (only) MUA and have never had this problem, and certainly not with the version in sarge. I think you should close this bug or reduce severity and mark as irreproducible.
