Ah, gnome-session checks for that? Ok, it behaves sanely then. And to be fair, it's not a bug in compiz; the reason I ran into this problem is because I was running compiz with --sm-disable... (Yes it was necessary at the time that I had set it up, I can explain why.) So I have nothing more to complain about here. :^) I'll leave it to you to close the bug, I'd do it but I'm not sure what's the correct way in this case.
