I don't know about this.

dhclient-script only adds both domain and search when the DHCP server only
provides a domain-name option and no domain-search option. So one could argue
that your DHCP server operator needs to get out of the 80's ;-)

I feel like the correct solution here is for the DHCP server to say what it
means. The DHCP client tries to do the right thing with what the DHCP server
gives it.

In investigating this bug, I have discovered a problem with dhclient-script
when there's no domain-name-server or domain-name option provided but a
domain-search one is. You could rightly argue that this isn't a terribly
helpful configuration, but I'll fix dhclient-script for this case.
