The current version of the draft package does now use ffmpeg to encode videos, instead of mpeg_encode that I stripped from the sources due to being upstream-dead and having patent-issues.
With this change AFNI should have full functionality (besides 3dedge3 support). The only major task that has to be done before an initial upload to Debian is a copyright/license screening. Given the size of the AFNI sources this is a somewhat significant effort...
