It appears that the Gnome "open file" dialog with the heading "Select a cert to import..." is opened in a "foreground" layer of the window manager, which it should not. Steps to reproduce: 1. Menu "Edit -> Preferences". 2. Choose "Certificates" 3. Choose the "Authorities" tab. 4. Click the "Import" button to import a certificate. The Gnome "open file" dialog with the heading "Select a cert to import..." will open. 5. Curse that you cannot open a cert file $HOME/.something/foo.crt in a "dot" directory and copy the file to $HOME/foo.crt. (optional step) 6. Open foo.crt. This opens the "Certificate Authority Trust" dialog. This dialog is "behind" the "Select a cert to import..." dialog, so you have to move the latter out of the way to see the one you're dealing with now. 7. Click the "view certificate" button in the "Certificate Authority Trust" dialog.
