Package: dnsmasq Version: 2.45-1+lenny1 Severity: wishlist I recently installed 'virt-manager' and 'libvirt-bin' which brought dnsmasq onto my system. Currently dnsmasq starts after installation and binds to all interfaces by default. The libvirtd later then tries to start/stop its own dnsmasq instances which fails due to the already running instance occupying all interfaces. I had to manually disable dnsmasq in /etc/default/dnsmasq to get libvirtd working.
Typing 'aptitude install virt-manager' should install a working libvirtd which can be achieved by simply not starting dnsmasq by default or by making it bind to localhost by default instead of to all interfaces. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.27.38 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages dnsmasq depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii dnsmasq-base 2.45-1+lenny1 A small caching DNS proxy and DHCP ii netbase 4.34 Basic TCP/IP networking system dnsmasq recommends no packages.
