I forgot to mention, that the individual virtual console
can be turned into processing the expected iso-8859-1
input in the standard way:

     ### On any ttyN, where N>1
     ### Effective also for an underpriviledged user

     $ kbd_mode -a

Thus the keymap is correct, as well as the font, the
only problem is that not all virtual consoles get an
identical setup.

Or, is tty1 the only true console, and all other
are lumped together as being "truly virtual", not
worthy of the same keyboard input?
