Package: linux-image-2.6.18-6-amd64 Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-24etch2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
NB- With my Gigabyte GA-K8NS rev 2 motherboard (nForce 3 platform), the problem is reproducible in all available BIOS versions (F15, F19, F21A). Inserting a SonyEricsson W980 phone (USB vendor/device=0fce/d0da) into the USB port and selecting "Phone Mode" in the menu that appears on the W980 causes an immediate reset of the computer in all the following scenarios. 1) "blacklist cdc_ether" is specified in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist (to prevent autoload of module) then root user runs "modprobe cdc_ether" 2) root user runs "modprobe cdc_acm" AND someone tries to dial a PPP connection through /dev/ttyACM0 OR /dev/ttyACM1 3) root user runs "modprobe usbserial vendor=0x0fce product=0xd0da" AND someone tries to dial a PPP connection through /dev/ttyUSB0 OR /dev/ttyUSB1. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
