Hopefully this won't be too messed up even if I'm reporting from a Ubuntu system... Lintian already has been updated to not give out errors for the incorrect-libdir-in-la-file tag when dealing with Python modules, where the modules install to /usr/lib/python*/sites-packages, I believe the same should be done when modules are installed under /usr/lib/python*/dist-packages/.
