I seem to be experiencing a similar issue with apache2
2.2.9-10+lenny4, even though it does not crash the system the

Can you please try the packages from
http://people.debian.org/~sf/2.2.9-10+lenny5+mem1/
and tell me if they reduce the memory usage?
Unfortunately this did not fix the issue, it happened 2 minutes ago:
top - 14:15:36 up 2 days, 6:22, 1 user, load average: 50.13, 37.36, 18.49
Tasks: 194 total, 1 running, 193 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 7.3%us, 3.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 0.0%id, 89.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.7%si,
0.0%st
$ ps aux | grep -c apache2
35
If you want me to run any tests / commands the next time this occurs,
please tell.
Thanks !
